4Culture is seeking an artist or artists from WA, OR, or BC (Canada) that can make the experience of visiting the King County Correctional Facility lobby more enjoyable for the hundreds of people that pass through it each day. Grants for the Arts - Brooklyn Arts Council
You may have already heard, the Brooklyn Arts Council has announced its Grants for the Arts program. The application deadline for the "Grants for the Arts program is Thursday, September 25, 2008. Funding is available for Brooklyn-based artists and nonprofit organizations in the areas of visual arts, film and video, photography, craft, folk arts, dance, music, opera, theater, literature/writing and multidisciplinary arts. Capacity-building grants are also available to Brooklyn-based nonprofit arts organizations. All applicants MUST attend an application seminar in order to be eligible for funding. Children's Physicians Facility - Oklahoma City, OK
University Hospital's Authority & Trust is seeking an artist (or team of artists) to create permanent works of art for the following prominent locations at the new OU Children's Physicians Facility: Exterior Sculpture Art / Entrance Plaza - $150,000 / Second Floor Stair Hanging/Kinetic Element - $100,000 / Second Floor Atrium Lobby Abstract Sculpture - $250,000. Artist(s) may submit a proposal for one or all three of the above projects. Each of the projects above will be treated as separate projects and could be awarded to one artist/artist group or several different artists/artist groups. This artwork can include sculpture, mosaic, water and landscaping elements, unique or alternative art media or any combination that is appropriate to the site. The artwork must convey a nature-inspired theme that will compliment the natural light and calming decor of the facility as well as provide a peaceful, soothing, calming, and family-friendly environment; making a visit to the doctor s office or a trip to the hospital more pleasant for both patients and their families. Dunkin Donuts Arena 2008
A $80 million renovation of the Dunkin Donuts Center in downtown Providence, Rhode Island which includes linking the facility to the adjacent Rhode Island Convention Center has been completed. The Rhode Island State Council on the Arts (RISCA) invites artists to submit proposals for up to three (3) exterior public art sites associated with this renovation in accordance with the Rhode Island 1% Allocation for Art for Public Facilities Act, which states that public art creates a more humane environment: one of distinction, enjoyment and pride for all citizens. Library Sculpture - Redding, CA

Exhibition Opportunities for Arizona Artists
The Gilbert Visual Art League (GVAL) invites Arizona artists to submit their original artwork for the 6th Annual Fine Art Show. The show is hosted at the Gilbert Historical Museum in Gilbert, Arizona and will be available for public viewing from November 8-22, 2008. The show is judged and juried, includes all mediums and subject matter, and features a non-juried, youth division. This is GVAL's second Fine Art Show for 2008. Awards will be presented at the show reception on November 16, 2008. Ribbons are awarded to the top three works in each category. In addition, a cash prize is given to Best of Show and Peoples Choice winners. Renowned painter, John Cox, will judge the show. Cox has more than thirty years fine-art experience and has hosted many solo and two-person shows. Artists interested in submitting work can download the official call for entry at the Gilbert Visual Art League website www.gval.org. All entries must be postmarked by September 27, 2008. Acceptance letters will be mailed starting on October 10, 2008. The Gilbert Visual Art League s goal is to create a venue for local artists to show their work and be recognized for their talents. Oklahoma City Festival of the Arts
Presented by the Arts Council of Oklahoma City, the Festival of the Arts is now in its 43rd year. This fine art show draws over 750,000 visitors annually and averages $1.2 million in art sales each year. Now in its 43rd year, the Festival of the Arts is Oklahoma City's annual "rite-of-spring." Each year, more than 144 fine artists from across the United States exhibit at the Festival. Total art sales generated by Festival Artists average $1.2 million annually. The Festival of the Arts also features four stages filled with live entertainment, street performers, international cuisine, extensive children's programming and hands-on activities for art lovers of all ages. Festival Plaza, located in the heart of downtown Oklahoma City, is home to the Festival of the Arts. Also encompassed in the event is the adjacent Myriad Botanical Gardens with the Crystal Bridge, rolling hills, large trees, native vegetation, beautiful ponds and walking trails. Boston Printmakers North American Print Biennial
This Biennial, one of the oldest and most prestigious print exhibitions in the US, is open to all artists in North America. Original works in all printmaking media including monoprints and monotypes, artists' books, prints with mixed media, and three-dimensional print works are eligible. The Boston Printmakers North American Biennial will not consider photographs, offset reproductions, or reproductions of work originally produced in another medium. Over $10,000 in juror-designated purchase and materials prizes are given and a large number of sales are generated through Patron purchases. Purchase awards go into permanent print collections at Harvard's Fogg Museum of Art, the Duxbury Art Complex Museum, and the Boston Public Library. Philadelphia Youth Center
The City of Philadelphia's Department of Public Property, Public Art Division, and the Department of Human Services announce a competition for the commissioning of site specific interior artwork for the new Philadelphia Youth Center. A total budget of up to $225,000 has been allocated for this Percent for Art project. The competition is open to artists or collaborative teams who reside in the following states: PA, DE, NJ, and MD. Utah '08: Painting & Sculpture
The Utah Arts Council announces the 2008 Statewide Annual Visual Arts Competition and Exhibition, Utah '08: Painting & Sculpture, is now accepting applications for entry. The Statewide Annual Visual Arts Competition and Exhibition began in 1899 in conjunction with the establishment of the Utah Arts Council, as a way to honor and recognize artists living in the state. Each year the categories rotate between Painting & Sculpture, Crafts & Photography, and Mixed Media & Works on Paper. The 2008 competition is open to all Utah artists 18 years or older who work in a two-dimensional "wet media," including but not limited to gouache, watercolor, oil, encaustic, resin, or tempera, or three-dimensional "solid" works, such as those created through such processes as carving, modeling, welding, casting, or molding. Entries will be accepted from 8:00am to 6:00pm on September 22 to 25, 2008, at the Rio Gallery at the Rio Grande Depot, 300 South Rio Grande Street (455 West) in Salt Lake City. Slide entries must be submitted no later than September 25, 2008, to the Utah Arts Council, 617 East South Temple, Salt Lake City, UT 84102. The opening reception and awards ceremony will take place at the Rio Gallery on Friday, October 17, 2008, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. in conjunction with the Salt Lake City Gallery Stroll. Call For Sound Art
SoundCast is Daily Constitutional's curated online exhibition of unlimited edition, downloadable Sound Art. Currently each exhibition is featured for three months, and then archived to feature the next exhibition. Next review deadline is October 15, 2008 for November-January Exhibition. Audio works should be mixed for two channel listening; There is no length limit to the audio works but remember people will be downloading them and large files might be a deterrent to listeners. Submitted sound files should be compressed in MP3 format. Submissions should also include: image to accompany download (300 x 300 @ 72dpi and we will resize for the web); title of piece, date; artist's name; artist's web site; and length of piece. Include a short description if you would like to set up the piece or if there are specific instructions (i.e. best if listened to on headphones/speakers). The Art Selection Committee for the Academic and Student Recreation Center at Portland State University is seeking proposals from artists interested in the commission of artwork for this 180,000 square foot multi-use facility at PSU's Urban Center Plaza in downtown Portland, Oregon. The Art Selection Committee is particularly interested in projects that use the student or other local population as subject matter, or that provide opportunities for student interaction or gathering. Airport Art Program Artist Database - Sacramento, CA
The Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission (SMAC) invites artists and artist teams to submit qualifications for potential inclusion in a pre-qualified artist database for upcoming public art opportunities at the Sacramento International Airport. The Airport Art Program will provide opportunities for artists to create permanently installed artwork at various sites throughout the Airport over the next four years. Media appropriate to the Airport Art Program includes sculpture, ceramic, mosaics, art glass, multi-media, artist-designed lighting elements, or any other durable materials suitable for long-term exposure in an airport environment. Multi-Agency Facility - Salt Lake City, UT
Letters of interest and qualifications are requested from artists interested in creating art for the public spaces of this new Utah State multi-agency facility housing two State agencies - The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and the Department of Human Services (DHS) in Salt Lake City, Utah. DHS serves a particularly vulnerable segment of society, where the difficulties of human experience play out in a public policy stage. The work of DEQ to protect Utah's environment benefits all citizens by preserving essential elements of air, water and land. UK Albert B. Chandler Hospital - Lexington, KY
Albert B. Chandler Hospital Chapel UK HealthCare seeks to commission art glass for the UK Albert B. Chandler Hospital under the hospital's Arts in HealthCare program. The art glass will be located in the chapel of the new hospital. It is not the intent that the art glass will be simply public art; it should embody the aspirations of the program to provide a healing environment enhanced by artistic expressions. All forms of glass production will be considered. Deadline: September 19, 2008 (Postmark). UK HealthCare does not endorse any restrictions on any particular artistic content. The project is open to all artists, age 18 and over, regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, age, military status, sexual orientation, marital status, or physical or mental disability. Public Art Projects - Orlando, FL
The Orange County Public Art Review Board seeks one or more artist(s) or artist team(s) to develop artwork for one or more new public structure(s) that will embrace the community with high energy, healthy feelings of fun and interactivity. There are six projects. Five of them will be Recreation Centers - self-contained, new buildings that include a gymnasium as well as other recreation opportunities. They each have $50, 000 public art budgets. A sixth project will add a gymnasium to an existing recreational facility in an established community. It has a $35,000 public art budget. The projects are spread across the Orange County, site plans available at www.ocfl.net/arts. Deadline: October 6, 2008. The Artist Selection Panel may select a different artist or artist teams for each project, or they may select an artist or artist team for two or more or all of the projects from those entering artists that express an interest in addressing multiple facilities.
