Seattle Department of Transportation Sidewalk Artwork Project
The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) and the Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs seeks a Washington artist to develop artwork for the SDOT Sidewalk Artwork Project. The selected artist will work collaboratively with SDOT and community members from chosen neighborhoods to select sites and design artworks to be integrated into sidewalk renovations. The artist will then work with SDOT to develop and install artworks into sidewalks at selected locations. Entry deadline: February 29, 2008. Piedmont Craftsmen Fair
Since its founding in 1964, Piedmont Craftsmen has evolved into one of the nation's most highly respected craft guilds, presenting an annual Fair that is considered one of the finest in the Southeastern United States. Total sales by 135 exhibiting craftsmen are estimated at nearly $400,000. Piedmont Craftsmen's Gallery and Shop anchor the Arts District in downtown Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Art Encounters - Douglas County, CO
Sculpture artists are encouraged to apply for Douglas County's new Art Encounters public art program between January 11, 2008 and February 15, 2008 by visiting www.douglas.co.us/artencounters for detailed program information and an application. This is an opportunity for artists to showcase their work that will be advertised throughout Douglas County and beyond. Artists will also have a chance for their work to be purchased either by the jurisdiction, an individual or a business. Art Encounters is a year-long outdoor sculpture exhibit that will take place from June 2008 to June 2009 and showcase a number of sculptures in various media and styles. The project is designed to promote public interest in art, develop community pride and draw visitors to the retail or civic areas where the sculpture is displayed.

Palm Harbor Library - Palm Harbor, FL
Artists are invited to submit application materials and digital images to compete for an outdoor artwork project associated with the Palm Harbor Library. This $50,000 commission focuses on the creation of artwork that will be attached to the facade of the building and be visible at night. The postmark deadline is February 21, 2008. Art & Air Fair will be held June 6-7, 2008. Combined Talents
The 23rd Annual Combined Talents: The Florida International is a competition open to artists 18 and older with all media eligible for consideration. Albuquerque Fire Station #21
The City of Albuquerque Public Art Program is looking for artwork to be placed at the City's Fire Station #21. With a City Fire Station context, a future police substation to be built adjacent to the site, and a high school nearby as well, the design challenge for the artist on this project is to create a work that celebrates and brings recognition to the tradition of fire fighting, while considering interactive elements in the artwork. There are numerous possibilities for adding a public artwork to this site and neighborhood. The selection committee is willing to consider broad range of artistic styles and materials for this project with the only restriction being that the artwork is created in "permanent outdoor media." 1440 Minutes
The Gallery of Contemporary Art at UCCS and IDEA @ Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colorado, are excited to announce a joint public program supporting Colorado contemporary artists. 1440 Minutes is a 24-hour art installation and exhibition event, curated around the theme of Social Spaces. Simultaneous installations and performances will be completed in UCCS Gallery of Contemporary Art and Colorado College's Coburn Gallery, as well as on a shuttle bus transporting visitors between the two sites. Submissions from individual artists and collectives are now being taken to participate in one of the six spaces. Works should be site-specific, installation and/or performance-based, and participatory. GoCA, UCCS and IDEA have conceived of the project as a way to open an ongoing dialogue among art, artists, and gallery audiences, as well as a way to link two vibrant contemporary art spaces in Colorado Springs. Crested Butte Arts Festival
Now in its 36th year, the Crested Butte Arts Festival is a well organized, well run and well attended event. Approximately 175 artists will line Historic Elk Avenue--nestled in the majestic Rocky Mountains. Exhibition dates: May 5-July 25, 2008. e-merge 2008 is a juried kiln-glass exhibition for emerging and intermediate-level artists in Portland, Oregon. e-merge 2008 is sponsored by Bullseye Glass Co., a manufacturer of colored glass for art and architecture with worldwide distribution and a strong commitment to education and promoting glass art. The e-merge 2008 exhibition recognizes and honors students, early-career artists, and others who are rising through the ranks of kiln formed studio glass but not yet represented at the top-flight international galleries. e-merge 2008 offers over $5,000 in prizes in the form of Bullseye gift cards. Be discovered at artDC and support Unity in the arts. ARTview is hosting its sixth annual auction and exhibition designed to showcase emerging and established artists. ARTviewtakes place in Washington DC in May 2008. The weekend-long art fair will be at the Washington Convention Center and feature galleries from around the world. The ARTview 2008 national call is open to all artists working in painting, photography, sculpture and mixed media. Any format, any style is acceptable. Elsewhere Artist Collaborative
Elsewhere, an arts production site and experimental museum in downtown Greensboro, North Carolina, is seeking artists, writers, and cultural producers for residencies during its Spring, Summer, and Fall 2008 seasons. San Juan Regional Medical Center - Farmington, NM
The Art in Public Places Program (AIPP) of New Mexico Arts and the Local Selection Committee (LSC) at San Juan Regional Medical Center (SJRMC) seek to commission an artwork to be placed in the Healing Garden at SJRMC in Farmington, New Mexico. $28,600 is available for this project. This amount includes all applicable expenses: materials, possible equipment costs depending on proposal, fees, labor, insurance, taxes, travel, installation costs, project plaque and documentation of the artwork. Art in the High Desert
This juried fine art and craft festival is produced by artists for artists. It takes place in Bend, Oregon, a sophisticated community of art lovers and art buyers. Illuminators - Yekaterinburg Airport, Russia
Yekaterinburg Koltsovo airport announces the beginning of the international exhibition project Illuminatory, which will be shown in April-June 2008 in the open spaces of the International terminal of the airport. The works for the exhibitions will be selected on a competitive basis by an international award panel. The organizers invite the artists to submit digital prints and digital video in the form of tondo--the form of pictures with ancient traditions to the competition. The exhibition opens the Illuminators Art-Koltsovo program. The exhibition will show modern versions of tondo. Accepting electronic files of works which can be reproduced by the organizers like as digital prints, light boxes, video objects/installations and video projections. The organizers are going to challenge the interior environment of the international terminal of Koltsovo airport. Poster Design Competition - Colorado Dragon Boat Festival
The Colorado Dragon Boat Festival (CDBF) is pleased to announce a design competition for the 2008 Commemorative Festival poster. The winning design will be used primarily for collectible merchandise applications in many forms (home decor framed prints, t-shirts, miscellaneous marketing, etc.) The winner of the poster design competition will be honored as the first-ever commemorative poster artist and all honors, public relations, and rights assigned thereto. Three winners will be selected with cash awards. First place winner: $500, second place: $300, third place: $200.
