Sculpture Walk - Evergreen, CO
You are invited to participate in Art for the Mountain Community's annual Sculpture Walk competition. Up to sixteen sculptures will be displayed in historic Evergreen, Colorado beginning in June 2008 and will remain on display for one year. Artists whose sculptures are selected for this annual outdoor display will receive a $300 honorarium and will be eligible for a People's Choice Award of $700 and a Juror's Best of Show Award of $1,000. In previous, years AMC has sold many sculptures exhibited at Sculpture Walk to individual collectors as well as local businesses. The deadline for submission of entries is January 15, 2008. Lange-Taylor Prize
The Dorothea Lange-Paul Taylor Prize an annual $20,000 award from the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University, promotes the collaboration between a writer and a photographer in the formative or fieldwork stages of a documentary project. In the Public Realm - NYC
In the Public Realm is an opportunity for emerging artists living or working in New York state to create a temporary work in a public space. Up to ten emerging artists will be selected by a distinguished panel of artists, curators and critics, and will be commissioned by the Public Art Fund to develop formal proposals for public art projects. From these proposals, the Public Art Fund will select three artists to realize a work in the coming year. In the Public Realm is a program of the Public Art Fund designed to encourage innovative public art projects by emerging artists living and/or working in New York State. Artists selected through the program will make proposals, develop their work in relation to urban conditions, and ultimately present an artwork in the complex arena of public life in New York City. Artists are encouraged to investigate the physical, social, and psychological nature of the urban environment throughout the diverse neighborhoods of New York City. El Paseo Invitational Exhibition
The City of Palm Desert is now accepting applications for the 2009/2010 El Paseo Invitational Exhibition. The exhibition is showcased on the medians of El Paseo and is seen by thousands of visitors each year as well as advertised nationally, regionally, and locally. Dr. Robert Hutchings Goddard Sculpture - Roswell, NM
The Roswell Museum and Art Center is seeking an artist (or team of artists) to create a permanent, outdoor commemorative sculpture to honor rocket pioneer Dr. Robert Hutchings Goddard. The sculpture will be situated prominently at the northeast corner of the Museum grounds near Dr. Goddard's original rocket launch tower, a structure that rises approximately 100 feet above the ground. The area is approximately 1/2 acre with a lush lawn and mature trees. The sculpture will serve as a focal point for the Museum along Roswell's central corridor, Main Street, and will be tied visually and physically to a pocket park that surrounds the rocket tower. The artist will work closely with a landscape architect who has been hired to develop the overall site plan that links the sculpture and proposed pocket park with the Museum's existing outdoor courtyard. The goal is to incorporate functional sculptural elements within the overall site plan as an enhancement to the Museum grounds and Main Street. Deadline: December 31, 2007. Seattle City Hall Exhibitions
The city of Seattle seeks artist and community exhibition proposals for display in City Hall galleries in 2008. The 2008 exhibition cycle will begin in February. Two galleries at Seattle City Hall - the City Hall Lobby Gallery and the Anne Focke Gallery - focus on works that reflect the broad diversity of Seattle's communities and highlight the work of regional artists and community organizations. Group or solo exhibitions are welcome and will be displayed from six to eight weeks. Exhibitions showcase the life of the city through the work of its departments, the activities of its residents, and its relationships with neighbors, sister cities and trading partners. The galleries are equipped to display 2-D materials, however 3-D exhibitions will be considered, providing applicants can furnish necessary display cases. Video and media works will not be accepted. The City Hall Lobby Gallery features eight, 6' x 4' double-sided, metal, peg-board panels. The Anne Focke Gallery features a 120-foot long display wall (with professional hanging system) and is located on the L2 level of City Hall. Video and media works will not be accepted. Boardwalk Art Show and Festival
The Boardwalk Art Show and Festival is one of the oldest and best outdoor fine art shows on the Eastern seaboard, and this year will mark our 53rd year. With an average attendance each year or more than 300,000, this four-day festival is one of the most popular in Virginia, attracting collectors and artists from across the nation. The show runs along the Virginia Beach boardwalk from 17th Street to 32nd Street, overlooking the sandy beach and Atlantic Ocean. Through the support of the local community, the Contemporary Art Center of Virginia (CAC) offers a total of $28,000 in prize money with a Best in Show prize of $10,000. Deadline: January 14, 2008.
