Sculpture Walk - Evergreen, CO
You are invited to participate in Art for the Mountain Community's annual Sculpture Walk competition. Up to 16 sculptures will be displayed in historic Evergreen, Colorado beginning June 2008 and continuing for one year. Artists whose sculptures are selected for this annual outdoor display will receive a $300 honorarium and will be eligible for a People's Choice Award of $700 and a Juror's Best of Show Award of $1,000. In previous, years AMC has sold many sculptures exhibited at Sculpture Walk to individual collectors as well as local businesses. The deadline for the submission of entries is January 15, 2008. Public Art in the Public Way - Chicago, IL
Near NorthWest Arts Council invites artists to create projects including murals (with/without after-school student participation), temporary public space and media installations. Lange-Taylor Prize
The Dorothea Lange-Paul Taylor Prize is an annual $20,000 award from the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University that promotes the collaboration between a writer and a photographer in the formative or fieldwork stages of a documentary project. SculptureWalk - Sioux Falls, SD
SculptureWalk is an exciting exhibit of outdoor sculptures displayed year-round in downtown Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Artists place their sculptures in the program for one year, and all sculptures are aggressively promoted to the public for sale. Artist Registry - Cambridge, MA
Cambridge Arts Council's Public Art Slide Registry is the main resource for the selection of artists for the Percent-for-Art program administered by the City of Cambridge. The registry includes slides by over 800 local and national artists, representing a broad range of media, styles, and approaches to public art. All professional artists are eligible. Artists who would like to be considered for commissions should submit up to 16-20 labeled slides of recent work, a current resume and any support materials, such as catalogues, reviews, and articles, to the Arts Council. In the Public Realm - NYC
In the Public Realm is an opportunity for emerging artists living or working in New York State to create a temporary work in a public space. Up to 10 emerging artists will be selected by a distinguished panel of artists, curators and critics, and will be commissioned by the Public Art Fund to develop formal proposals for public art projects. From these proposals, the Public Art Fund will select three artists to realize a work in the coming year. In the Public Realm is a program of the Public Art Fund designed to encourage innovative public art projects by emerging artists living and/or working in New York State. Artists selected through the program will make proposals, develop their work in relation to urban conditions, and ultimately present an artwork in the complex arena of public life in New York City. Artists are encouraged to investigate the physical, social, and psychological nature of the urban environment throughout the diverse neighborhoods of New York City. Alligator Juniper Photography Competition
Alligator Juniper seeks quality black and white photography for its 2008 issue. $500 prize for one winner; other winners selected for publication are paid in copies. Museo Art is a private art academy and art gallery that exhibits work by emerging and established artists throughout the year. Museo Art is seeking artists that compliment the academy's standards in terms of academic prowess, craftsmanship and artistic merit in order to encourage the best work possible from its students. Museo Art is seeking new talent for its 2007-2008 exhibition season and is now accepting applications for the first annual juried exhibition opening November 1, 2007. Two Rivers Art Project
City of Glenwood Springs, Colorado is looking for high quality sculpture (especially large-scale pieces) for this years long outdoor display. It has been a long time dream to create a strong public art program for the City of Glenwood Springs, Colorado. We hope artists will consider being a part of founding this enterprise. Deadline to apply has been extended to February 29, 2008. Fee: $30.00. The exhibit is open to professional and amateur artists of all backgrounds. Each artist may enter up to two works. There are no limitations on the dimensions. Central Park Boulevard Median Public Art Project
Eligibility: This project is open only to artists living in Colorado. The award winning redevelopment of Denver’s former Stapleton International Airport announces a new public art opportunity with a commission of $150,000. For more information about Stapleton and the Public Art Master Plan for Stapleton, please go to www.StapletonDenver.com. The focus of this public art project is a two-block median on Central Park Boulevard north of Montview Boulevard, the primary connection to Stapleton from the south. Central Park Boulevard is a major north/south 4-lane connector through Stapleton. This section of the median is approximately a quarter of a mile in length and 56 feet wide at the section where the public art will be installed. The median is bounded by Wabash/Verbena Streets on the north and by 21st/23rd Streets on the south. This area of Stapleton includes a three-story building featuring live-work space, traditional residential areas and development of village type services that will include retail, office and restaurant uses. The Project Selection Committee is seeking an artist or artist team to create unique artwork appropriate to both residential and mixed-use parts of this diverse urban community. The artwork should be composed of multiple elements in a series or sequence and respond to the sustainability goals that guide development at Stapleton. The Stapleton public art program uses the CaFÉ digital application and selection process online at www.callforentry.org in partnership with Western States Arts Federation (WESTAF).
