Auditorium Lobby Art, St. Louis, MO
Emerson is issuing call for entry to artists or artist collaborations that are interested in submitting a proposal to create unique artwork for one (or more) locations in the new auditorium Lobby at Emerson Corporate Headquarters. Submissions may include all media: painting, drawing, sculpture, photographs, and/or video work. The space calls for a piece of considerable scale that is intended to be permanently installed and visually able to stand the test of time. Emerson's former auditorium has been demolished and construction on the new facility has begun. Completion of the new auditorium is scheduled for January of 2008. Entry deadline: October 15, 2007. The total maximum art budget amount, inclusive of all costs for artists and art consultant fees, is $500,000 to $750,000 for any and all commissions for this project. GEISAI Miami
Six years since the first inception of GEISAI in Japan in the summer of 2001, Kaikai Kiki announces GEISAI Miami, the American debut of a fair that has been a launch pad into the art world for many young artists. Organized by the artist-led art enterprise Kaikai Kiki, GEISAI Miami introduces an entirely new type of fair in the booming Miami art market, allowing artists to represent themselves and to present their work directly to an audience of collectors, art professionals and art enthusiasts. The fair will run concurrently with Art Basel Miami Beach, and will be hosted by PULSE Contemporary Art Fair at the Parliament Building of SOHO Studios in Miami's Wynwood Art District from Wednesday, December 5 through Sunday, December 9, 2007. GEISAI Miami is open to artists of all nationalities that do not have ongoing commercial gallery representation at the time of their application. A jury of art world professionals, including Tom Eccles, Massimiliano Gioni, Walter Robinson, Lin Lougheed, and Carol Kino, will select approximately 20 artists from among the applicants. The selected artists will be invited to present their work in the Soho Building with no fee being charged for the booth that will be given to them. The deadline for submitting applications is Monday, October 1st, 2007. Applications are being accepted at GEISAI Miami.

Queen Creek Library - Queen Creek, AZ
The Town of Queen Creek is seeking proposals from Arizona artists to design, fabricate and install hardscape/landscape for the new Queen Creek Library under construction. The library is located at Ellsworth and Ocotillo roads in Queen Creek. It is scheduled for opening in Summer 2008. Possible projects may include, but are not limited to: shade structure, park benches/ seating walls, mosaic, sculpture, creative concrete or tile work, garden lighting or special landscaping. The selected project will be artistic, functional, safe, durable and reflective of Queen Creek's rural nature. Artists may propose one or more specific pieces to be installed in the outdoor plaza/courtyard or may propose a whole concept for the entire plaza/courtyard. Arts Writers Grant
Initiated by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts and administered by Creative Capital, the Arts Writers Grant is a three-year pilot program designed to support critical writing on contemporary visual art through project-based grants issued directly to individual authors. The first program of its type, it was founded in recognition of both the financially precarious situation of arts writers and their indispensable contribution to a vital artistic culture. Approximately fifteen to twenty grants will be awarded per annual cycle, ranging from $3,000-$50,000. Art historians, artists, critics, curators, journalists, and practitioners from other fields that engage contemporary visual art are welcome to apply. Salina Art Center
The Salina Art Center is seeking applicants for the Artist Initiative Residency Program, a new, long-term residency program in conjunction with the Art Center's newly renovated Warehouse. The Artist Initiative aims to increase opportunities for in-depth community interaction with artists and enrich Salina's role as a vital and viable site for the creation of substantive work by local, regional, national, and international artists. The program strives for a mix of emerging and established artists with well developed ideas, and welcomes those with the ability and interest to interact with our community as part of their residency. The residency is intended for independent artists working in painting, drawing, installation, digital imaging, community and sound art, and sculpture with limited facilities for photography, printmaking, and ceramics. Each residency will include weekly open studio sessions, education outreach, community activities/interaction, as well as time and facilities for the artists to create personal work that meets their creative goals. Artists also have potential for exhibition opportunities at the Salina Art Center's gallery and screenings at the Salina Art Center Cinema. During their stay in Salina, artists will reside at the Warehouse in a furnished apartment complete with a private bath, kitchenette, laundry facilities, and computer access. During the May/June residency, artists will have an opportunity to complete a temporary public art project in June in conjunction with the Smoky Hill River Festival. Each year the Salina Art Center, in partnership with Salina Arts and Humanities Commission, coordinates an artist-in-residence to complete a community art project, art installation, or artist workshop at the Festival. The Art Center is currently seeking two artists in residence for 2008, one for the spring (March/April) and one for the summer (May/June). Residencies can range from six to twelve weeks in duration. Against Nature
The Against Nature exhibition will open in January 2008. This group show will feature contemporary art about concepts of nature as sites of stress, dispute and dissonance. Artworks may address issues including: human-induced climate changes, ideological uses of nature, "unnatural" identities, bio-engineering, radical transformation of the body (cosmetic surgery), and corporate, authoritarian, anarchic, or individualistic re-definitions of or attacks on nature. Waldbaums Community Mural Project - Huntington, NY
The Town of Huntington (Long Island, NY) requests submission of qualifications from professional mural artists, preferably with prior experience supervising teen apprentices in executing community murals. While open to any U.S. artist, strong preference will be given to artists of the region. Tentative project budget of $30,000-$50,000, not including in-kind support. Concord River Greenway - Lowell, MA
The Lowell Parks & Conservation Trust in partnership with the City of Lowell, National Park Service, New England Foundation for the Arts, National Endowment for the Arts, and UrbanArts Institute at Massachusetts College of Art + Design invite artists to forward qualifications for the design of bridges and gateways for the Concord River Greenway. Temporary Public Art Opportunity - Kansas City, MO
The Avenue of the Arts Foundation invites Kansas City area artists to submit digital images and qualifications in order to be considered for the 2008 Avenue of the Arts installation. The deadline for submission of entries is Friday, September 21, 2007. Open to artists residing within 50 miles of Kansas City, Missouri. As part of the ongoing renewal of the Avenue of the Arts (Central Street) in Downtown Kansas City, the Foundation will commission six artists to create temporary site-specific art installations for six intersections along the street. The installations will be on display from May through September 2008. Artists may be asked to work collaboratively with members of the Artist Selection Panel and project consultants in determining unique design opportunities. The art budget for this project is $5,000 for each intersection. The Foundation is not seeking proposals. This call is seeking artists wishing to be considered by the professional Artist Selection Panel for this project. South Side Library - Santa Fe, NM
The City of Santa Fe Arts Commission and New Mexico Arts wish to commission a new, site-specific artwork for the main exterior entry of the newly constructed south side library. The artwork may be a free-standing piece which complements the building's architecture or it may be integrated into existing portions of the building. The selected artist/artist team will receive a joint commission from the City of Santa Fe Arts Commission and New Mexico Arts. The selected artist/artist team will work closely with the project advisory committee, building architect, contract public art consultant, City and State staff, and other constituents in designing the artwork. The City's new library is located on the south side of Santa Fe in the Tierra Contenta master planned community. The $4.6 million dollar building serves as the main library branch for the community's growing south side. Opportunities for integrated artworks include a steel columned portal that lines most of the elevation; two taller (22) steel columns, topped by a pitched roof, that mark the main entrance; and four colored concrete planter walls. The walkway includes donor-designated brick which cannot be obscured. The budget for this project is $45,000 inclusive. This fee must include all design, fabrication and installation fees as well as applicable taxes, necessary licenses, registration fees, and insurance. Deadline: October 1, 2007. Adams State College - Alamosa, CO
The Colorado Council on the Arts and Adams State College seek to commission an artist or artist team for a site-specific public art project for Plachy Hall Renovation and Addition. Plachy Hall is an important educational building on campus as well as a public facility used by the citizens of the San Luis Valley. The artwork must be welcoming to all. The themes that can be addressed include school spirit, health, sports and community. The committee would like artwork that announces the entryway and some portion of the artwork should move inside to the lobby. Budget: $64,000. Deadline: Monday, October 1, 2007. African Burial Ground - Portsmouth, NH
The City of Portsmouth is soliciting Statements of Qualifications from qualified artists interested in working collaboratively as part of a design team to expand the vision for an overall design that commemorates Portsmouth's African Burial Ground as a sacred public space; and to design, fabricate, and install visual art component(s) for the African Burial Ground. This RFQ can be accessed on the City's website by visiting www.cityofportsmouth.com/finance/purchasing.htm. Sealed Statements of Qualifications, plainly marked "RFQ #12-08, City of Portsmouth, Call for Artists, African Burial Ground," on the outside of the mailing envelope, addressed to the Finance/Purchasing Department, City Hall, 1 Junkins Avenue, Portsmouth, NH 03801 will be accepted until 1:30pm on Thursday, October 4, 2007.

Fire Station #5
The City of Albuquerque Public Art Program is looking for artwork to be placed at the new Fire Station #5, located two blocks north of Route 66. This is an open competition for artists residing in the Southwestern United States, specifically the states of Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and Utah. Given its high visibility, the design challenge for the artist on this project is to create a work that brings an uplifting impression for the area and the city facility. There are numerous possibilities for adding a Public Artwork to this site and neighborhood. Materials could range from steel to tile or bronze even LED lighting, the only restriction on materials being considered for the art would be that it is created in "permanent outdoor media". Deadline November 1, 2007. Project Funds: $40,000. Visit www.cabq.gov/publicart for more information.
