KANSAS

Pictures at an Exhibition
On March 25, 2007, the Kansas City Wind Symphony will present an art exhibit and concert in conjunction with their performance of Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition. The events are free and will take place at the Village Presbyterian Church, 6641 Mission Road, Prairie Village, KS. The Art Exhibit will open at 6:00pm in Fellowship hall and will feature works by many area artists including ArtistsRegister.com member Teresa Magel. Numerous artists have created works depicting various movements of the Mussorgsky work. Their renditions along with the original works by Russian artist Victor Hartman (1830-1873), who inspired the composer, will be projected via PowerPoint during the performance.

A.I.R FilmFest - Balatonfured, Hungary

Laycock Park Public Art Project - Calgary, Alberta, Canada
The City of Calgary Public Art Program is seeking Expressions of Interest (i.e. qualifications) from experienced artists or artist teams with a demonstrated ability to produce integrated public art within environmental and/or ecological projects relating to water. Relevant experience working on a park wetlands compensation (restoration) project will be considered an asset. The total budget for this public art project is $180,000 CDN. Project budgets are all-inclusive, including but not limited to: artist fees, travel, research, design, professional fees, documentation, community engagement, materials, equipment, fabrication/construction, transportation, installation and all permit fees, taxes, duty and brokerage fees. The goal of Laycock Park public art project is to use public art as one means of providing Calgarians with a better understanding of the current conditions of Nose Creek, the Creek's history, the impact of urbanization, and the opportunities for restoration and increased stewardship of the Creek and its watershed. The selected artist(s)/artist team(s) will have practical, demonstrated experience in the field of public art, collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams and the ability to work within set budgets and constructions schedules. Cheboygan Arts Festival
The Cheboygan Area Arts Council is accepting applications for its 39th Annual Fine Arts Festival, to be held on Saturday, July 14, 2007 from 10:00am to 4:00pm. The event is held in the Cheboygan Ice Rink Pavilion. Entry deadline is April 15, 2007 with a $75.00 entry fee per 10 x 10 space. Set-up time is Friday evening, 5:00pm to 7:00pm and Saturday morning from 8:00am to 10:00am. A minimum of four (4) clear photos of original art or craft must be submitted by the deadline date of April 15, 2007, with an entry fee of $75.00. If you took part in last year's show, you need not submit photos unless requested by the jury board. Please label photos with name, address, title and material. Regional Juried Show
The Hill Country Arts Foundation, a non-profit educational arts organization in Ingram, Texas, is calling for entries in any medium for its Regional Juried Show scheduled to take place May 9-June 30, 2007. Call for Submissions - Seattle Center
The Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs, in partnership with Seattle Center, seeks an artist to create a site-specific artwork at Seattle Center. Reflecting the cultural diversity and natural beauty of the Northwest, Seattle Center is the region's gathering place. Each year, more than 12 million visitors come to the 74-acre campus. The artwork location near the Center House features a circle of grass with a seating wall surround and is at a busy crossroads, across from the Fisher Pavilion and Mural Amphitheatre. The call is open to professional artists working in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, California and British Columbia. The project budget is $86,500. The BIG Show
Think BIG! Open to all media - drawing, painting, mixed media, photography, sculpture, installation, video, quilting, literature, and more. The BIG Show dares artists to bring out their biggest ideas in a showcase of immeasurable possibilities. All works must be a minimum of 6 (six) feet in size, (maximum indoor height 10 feet, maximum indoor width 50 feet - outdoors anything goes). The BIG Show will utilize the sTudio 7 gallery and outdoor sculpture garden and is open to any theme the artist wishes to pursue. Entry deadline: March 23, 2007. Only one work per artist will be accepted though 6 may be submitted for review. Steam Engine Call to Artists - Calgary, Alberta, Canada
The City of Calgary Public Art Program, in conjunction with the City of Calgary Fire Department, is seeking an experienced visual artist to produce an original, technically accurate, realistic depiction of a Waterous or Ronald Steam Fire Engine in the watercolour medium. The artwork will showcase a historically accurate depiction of a Waterous or Ronald steam Fire Engine, illustrated as it would have appeared while in service. The artwork will be done in watercolour, be full colour, and the setting for the image will accurately reflect the period of time during which these rigs were utilized (approx. 1885-1912). The minimum size for the image is 18" by 24". All submission packages must be received by 4:30pm on Wednesday, March 14, 2007. Call for Artwork
The University of Wyoming Art Museum’s Ann Simpson Artmobile Program is seeking entries for the traveling 2007-2009 exhibition. Original art by women from Wyoming, Montana and Colorado will comprise the upcoming two-year exhibition. The Artmobile travels to schools and community centers with the artwork delivering tailored presentations and workshops to audiences of all ages. Submission Deadline: April 13, 2007 Entry Format: There is no entry fee. Works must be age-appropriate (K-12) in subject matter. Submit a maximum of 3 plastic 35 mm slides, or .jpg files on a CD no larger than 300 dpi and 6 inches on the longest side. Work must have been created by women within Wyoming, Montana or Colorado within the last five years. All media types are welcome, though please consider the information in the “restrictions” section. Selected work will be announced May 7, 2007, with an original work delivery deadline of June 4, 2007. Restrictions: Due to the touring nature of the exhibition, artwork must be stable enough to travel thousands of miles across Wyoming in the two years it will be on display. All work submitted and/or received for the exhibition will be scrutinized for its ability to travel safely and without damage. Work will be returned no sooner than July 30, 2009. Size Limitations: Artwork may not exceed 24 inches high by 24 inches wide. Sculpture will be considered but must not exceed 45 pounds and not be larger than 18” x 18” x 18” and must have a solid base (pedestal will be provided). Notes: University of Wyoming Art Museum will mat, frame, and crate artwork for tour. It will also pay for roundtrip shipping via FedEx pending proper packaging for shipment.
