Common Excuses
Everyone who comes before you is a potential customer. If you have excuses, it is because you don't want to make the effort to sell to them. When you are in a confident mood, you will not make up these excuses. Practice not having these excuses if this is your problem.

*He doesn't look like he has any money.
*He doesn't look like someone who buys art.
*She is not avant-garde enough for my art.
*Her fingernails are not polished. She doesn't have any money.
*No one off a tour bus ever buys.

Embracing Our Differences
Coexistence, Inc. proudly presents Embracing Our Differences, an outdoor art exhibit intended to demonstrate in a positive way that diversity enriches our lives; that respect for differences in our thoughts and beliefs elevates the human experience; and that the active rejection of prejudice and hatred enhances our own freedom. The Embracing Our Differences exhibit features 39 billboard size images created by professional artists, art students, and school children. Their creations reflect their interpretation of our message: enriching lives through diversity. An interesting and inspiring feature of the exhibition is the inclusion of the quotations that accompany each image. These quotations were chosen from entries submitted by members of our community and speak of the value of respecting other cultures and religions. Qualifications: Artists, photographers, professionals, amateurs, teachers, students - all ages - everyone can participate. You may submit more than one entry; however, no more than two images per artist will be chosen for display. Entry deadline: January 3, 2007. Final selections will be chosen based on artistic excellence in reflection of the theme Embracing Our Differences. The artwork will also be evaluated on how effectively it will read outdoors when enlarged to billboard size - 16 feet wide by 12 feet high. Artists are encouraged to use bold saturated colors and strong lines. Final selections will be made by professional artists, curators and art professionals. For submission, please follow all requirements at www.embracingourdifferences.org or call 941.928.0567 or e-mail info@embracingourdifferences.org.

Micro/Macro
In 1977, Charles and Ray Eames made a nine-minute film called Powers of Ten that still has the capacity today to expand the way we think and view our world. Over ten million people have since seen the film and it continues to be shown in classrooms, business meetings, festivals and retreats everywhere. Starting with a sleeping man at a picnic, the film takes the viewer on a journey out to the edge of space and then back into a carbon atom in the hand of the man picnic, all in a single shot. A concept of scale gives us the perspective to see all things in terms of relative size. It gives us a sense of place in the universe and expands our thinking in non-linear ways. This call is for art in any media that addresses the theme of relative size and the exploration of the animate or inanimate on a micro and/or macrocosmic level. The exhibition is planned for 2007-2008 at a location to be determined and will feature a body of work by each accepted artist. Submission requirements: Works considered include: two dimensional, three dimensional, sound, video. Please submit proposal ideas or images of completed works by January 1, 2007. Digital images accepted via email. Send an email for specifics on entry requirements to Adria Arch, Curator: adria@nearts.com.
