Herberger Theater Center Art Gallery
The Herberger Theater Center is accepting applications for inclusion in our Art Gallery. The Herberger invites you to submit artwork for consideration in an exhibit between January and June 2007. Artists are selected by a juried panel consisting of artists from various disciplines. Deadline for entries is October 2, 2006. Themes for exhibits include: Drawing Energy and Layers of Meaning. The call to artists is open to all professional artists residing in Arizona who are 18 years of age or older. Visions of the Land
Tohono Chul Park, a nonprofit arts and cultural center located within a 49-acre desert garden in Tucson, Arizona, is seeking submissions for Visions of the Land, an upcoming exhibit that will feature a range of styles and different approaches by Southwest artists. The rugged mountains, endless skies, jutting buttes, distant valleys and craggy canyons as well as the exotic plants of the region are part of the unique character of the Southwest. The exhibit will emphasize traditional as well as contemporary and abstract interpretations in all mediums by artists living in the region who have been an inspired by the distinctive environment of the Southwest, its subtle and overt influences. Negotiating Identities in the African World
The Schmucker Art Gallery at Gettysburg College seeks works for an exhibition, tentatively titled Negotiating Identities in the African World, and scheduled in conjunction with the 13th Central Pennsylvania Consortium Africana Studies Conference, Interrogating issues of Citizenship, Identity, Ethnicity and Race in the African World, 150 years after the Dred Scott Decision. Exhibition dates are March 30-April 22, 2007. The conference and exhibition will both be part of Gettysburg College's 175th Anniversary celebration and Africana Studies' 20-year celebration. Artists from the African Diaspora are invited to submit artworks engaging either the conference or exhibition themes. Works will be selected by an academic and curatorial committee. Residencies - Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts
The spirit and programs of the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts are based on the conviction that exceptional talent deserves to be supported. These artists come from around the world to work within a supportive community of like-minded people. Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition - Georgetown, KY
Artists are invited to submit proposals for an outdoor exhibition of contemporary 3-D artwork. Selected works will be sited throughout the campus of Georgetown College in Georgetown, Kentucky. The exhibition goal is to create an aesthetic venue for education, visitor interaction, and recognition of the arts. A wide interpretation of the theme, Live - Learn - Believe, is encouraged. A panel of arts professionals will consider existing artwork and site-specific proposals for the exhibition. PAUSE Roster - Seattle, WA
SouthEast Effective Development (SEED), a non-profit community development organization serving Southeast Seattle since 1975, is looking for Seattle area artists to be a part of its PAUSE Artist Roster. PAUSE is a new program working with non-profit and commercial developers, community groups, and government agencies to develop new site-specific works of public art. PAUSE partners these groups with professional artists for consulting, design, fabrication, and installation services. PAUSE Roster artists are eligible for site-specific commissions of new artwork identified by this program and located in Southeast Seattle. First Book Prize in Photography
The Center for Documentary Studies (CDS) at Duke University and The Honickman Foundation (THF), based in Philadelphia, co-sponsor this prestigious biennial prize for American photographers. The only prize of its kind, the CDS/Honickman First Book Prize competition is open to American photographers of any age who have never published a book-length work and who use their cameras for creative exploration, whether it be of places, people, or communities; of the natural or social world; of beauty at large or the lack of it; of objective or subjective realities. Artistic Infusion Program - United States Mint
The United States Mint once again invites artists nationwide to apply for its Artistic Infusion Program to help design American coins and medals. The Artistic Infusion Program was created to enrich and invigorate the design of United States coins and medals by developing a pool of professional artists (Master Designers and Associate Designers) and college and graduate-level art students (Student Designers) in sculpture, engraving, graphic design, drawing and other visual arts, who are invited to create and submit new designs for selected coin and medal programs throughout the year. For the class of 2007, the United States Mint is seeking up to 10 Associate Designers and up to 6 Student Designers, to add to the existing pool of artists. Caught in the Act is a juried exhibit of photographs showing people caught in the act of taking photographs. This show is open to all photographers and the images can be fictional or documentary. Photographs can be old, new, color, B&W or digital to qualify. Two exhibits are planned. First, a show at Icebox Gallery, second, the show travels to Medtronic, Inc. World Headquarters for another exhibit. Open to all photographers worldwide, working in digital or film-based photography. Uneasy Gallery Show
3rd Ward is a 20,000 sq. ft workspace and studio facility for artist and creative professionals whose work often crosses media boundaries and requires access to an adaptable atmosphere. The Gallery at 3rd Ward draws its tone from the creative facilities surrounding it. Be it metalwork or sound, photography or movement, 3rd Ward is always seeking out the grey area between mediums. Dunkin' Donuts Center
A $62 million renovation of the Dunkin' Donuts Center in downtown Providence, Rhode Island which includes linking the facility to the adjacent Rhode Island Convention Center is currently underway. The Rhode Island State Council on the Arts (RISCA) invites artists to submit proposals for up to three (3) exterior public art sites associated with this renovation in accordance with the Rhode Island 1% Allocation for Art for Public Facilities Act, which states that "public art creates a more humane environment: one of distinction, enjoyment and pride for all citizens." Budget: A total of $420,000 has been designated for the acquisition of exterior public art for the Dunkin' Donuts Center project. All artists' fees, costs of fabrication, installation and transportation of artwork are included in this budget. Qualifications with proposal statements for the Dunkin' Donuts Center public art project will be submitted online through CAFE at www.callforentry.org
